Hello, I am Erin McCarthy.
Writer, athlete, cycle instructor and home renovation warrior with a heart of Pittsburgh gold.
I studied journalism at the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism at Ohio University, and I am now a JD candidate at the University of Pittsburgh School of Law. Talking to others about their lives and the free press are two of my greatest passions. (Talking to others about the free press is enough to make my heart explode.)
For the past four years, I have been copywriting in mostly the higher education space. I’ve found it to be a creative stretch — inherently journalistic, reflective, and strengthening to me as both a writer and a person.
I am originally from Columbus, Ohio, which you will likely know within five minutes of meeting me (case, point.) I have a Great Pyrenees named Pete, and 10,000+ bee pals. I like run-on sentences, stream of consciousness, and fragments. Oh, how I love me a fragment. When appropriate of course. And starting sentences with conjunctions. I also don’t like exclamation points, so you won’t see them in any of my work!
I can prove my hard work through awards, completed projects, and triathlon/marathon medals, but I’d rather you just talk to the people who know me as a writer. For references, call or email, and I’ll point you to people who will say nice things about me.
In the end, there is only one way to write well: from the heart.
Some things I can help you with:
- Information architecture
- Web, digital, video copywriting
- Etc., just ask!
